Cannibal Holocaust (1980)

Whoa. What a ride. As exploitation films go, this one really did make me cringe a bit. When i first heard about this movie i really was a bit hesitant to watch it, but i finally did and i do not regret it. This movie really is not for the faint of heart. this movie was highly controversial during the time of its original release due to its realistic violence. But the back round is not as shocking as the movie itself. This movie was very impressive. its gore effects were very realistic for its time in 1980 and its material was outright offensive. I watched the movie on google videos and i film opened with a disclaimer/warning that freaked me out. the disclaimer stated that this movie included "intense scenes of extreme violence and cruelty", and went on to say that the movie "will definitely shock and offend you. Nonetheless, it should be viewed as a disturbing historical document of a bygone era of extreme irresponsibility that no longer exists, and hopefully, will never exist again."...

Heavy stuff, man i was set up to be nervous even before the movie started. but all in all, i didn't think the movie was all that BAD. it was indeed disturbing. Although as far as shocking goes, the movies gore is nothing too much fore the typical jaded horror buff. but there are also a few rape scenes and several on-screen real animal deaths. The animal stuff was the only thing that got me really.

Okay, the idea of the film is that a man goes deep into south America (pretty specific right?) to find out what happened to a group of documentarians after they disappeared while trying to film a tribe of cannibalistic natives. And all the man found was there footage. Blaire witchy eh?

But as exploitation goes, this is a good one. the basic statement of the film is that we as people are just as (if not more) savage then more primitive people. Also pretty heavy. I recommend this movie to other horror buffs but no one else really, on the grounds that it really is so far disturbing that its general entertainment value is near nell. So there it is. If you've seen the movie yourself or have a few questions regarding it, please post comments. I want your feedback, watching this movie is not enough to understand it.
