Paranormal Activity

What this movie symbolizes is the return of suspense and terror in the horror genre. This horror flick was not just shocking, but scary. The first time you see this film, you will be in the back of your seat or under the covers in no time. This movie scared me. And after years and years of horror films, im pretty jaded since i tend to watch it all. This movie takes us back to the time of john carpenter and his original haloween. The suspense in a horror movie is so important for the success of a horror movie. I dug it and i dug every bit of it again when i watched it on DVD. (minus the shitty alternate ending.)

Waiting for PA2. Gonna be awesome!!!

Resident Evil: Afterlife *warning: may contain spoilers*

Okay saw the movie the day after it came out. I was like OMG im gonna love this movie! But after sitting through Afterlife i was like WTF was that. How totally disappointing. Im a big resident evil fan and this movie was a fine tribute, but the film sucked overall. The acting was not brilliant but not bad either. For some damned reason they had to make the movie a 3D exploitation, which is unfair, because if it weren't for the pointless and frequent slow-mo effects then maybe i woulda liked it alot better then i do. They draw out the actions scenes and there is very little actual zombie battling. For fans of the games though, ill say this, The characters from the game are all getting there parts in the movies. Clair and Chris Redfield are both in the flick, as well as Wesker, who is portrayed to be all the bad-ass he originally was. Another small problem is that this movie is not the last, as a matter of fact, it ends on a huge cliff-hanger.

Talking about the sequals, even with rumours, word of mouth, and a couple leaks form makers of the films, there isnt really much information on the next ones coming up. I will tell you waht i think i know, The next movie is said to be featuring Leon S. Kennedy, there are supposedly another three movies planned before Alice's story is done, and the next one will be just as bad-ass as we hoped the newest would have been but wasn't.

PS no spoiler though, in the end of the movie they bring back a fave RE character to be featured as the antagonist in the next movie X3.

PPS The executioner is badass!!!!

Haters

yo. I'm not sure i really have much to talk about this time due to my lack there of serious subject matter, but hey its been a couple days since ma last post and despite my lack there of a decent audience I'm still confident in this blogs success. Okay. I've recently been under bombardment by horror buff haters about the movie, Piranha 3-D, and I've gotta say, "Who the hell expected this movie to be any good!??" I'm serious now. The common misunderstanding is that things like piranha 3d are to be judged like any other movie. NO! Movies like this are bad, they are not meant to be taken seriously, they're supposed to be fun films for people with slightly bizarre or deranged senses of humour. They're fun to watch. I just recently had a few friends over and we all watched Freddy Vs. Jason. Why? Cause Its a brilliant piece of cinema? No! Because its fun to watch the plotless carnage of two pointless antagonists duke it out to prove who's the bigger bad-ass. We had a lot of fun ridiculing the movie and having fangasms for the guy we were rooting for (mine being the Krueg-myster).
You know what? Its not worth the effort really, because there will always be haters. Horror has a lot of great films representing it, but has a lot of really bad ones too. Horror has this in common with all other genres. But you know what? Us horror fans have something really good going for us. We can enjoy a modest amount of really good movies, like anyone else. But we also have the ability to enjoy all the bad ones too. Who else can say that?

Cannibal Holocaust (1980)

Whoa. What a ride. As exploitation films go, this one really did make me cringe a bit. When i first heard about this movie i really was a bit hesitant to watch it, but i finally did and i do not regret it. This movie really is not for the faint of heart. this movie was highly controversial during the time of its original release due to its realistic violence. But the back round is not as shocking as the movie itself. This movie was very impressive. its gore effects were very realistic for its time in 1980 and its material was outright offensive. I watched the movie on google videos and i film opened with a disclaimer/warning that freaked me out. the disclaimer stated that this movie included "intense scenes of extreme violence and cruelty", and went on to say that the movie "will definitely shock and offend you. Nonetheless, it should be viewed as a disturbing historical document of a bygone era of extreme irresponsibility that no longer exists, and hopefully, will never exist again."...

Heavy stuff, man i was set up to be nervous even before the movie started. but all in all, i didn't think the movie was all that BAD. it was indeed disturbing. Although as far as shocking goes, the movies gore is nothing too much fore the typical jaded horror buff. but there are also a few rape scenes and several on-screen real animal deaths. The animal stuff was the only thing that got me really.

Okay, the idea of the film is that a man goes deep into south America (pretty specific right?) to find out what happened to a group of documentarians after they disappeared while trying to film a tribe of cannibalistic natives. And all the man found was there footage. Blaire witchy eh?

But as exploitation goes, this is a good one. the basic statement of the film is that we as people are just as (if not more) savage then more primitive people. Also pretty heavy. I recommend this movie to other horror buffs but no one else really, on the grounds that it really is so far disturbing that its general entertainment value is near nell. So there it is. If you've seen the movie yourself or have a few questions regarding it, please post comments. I want your feedback, watching this movie is not enough to understand it.
